Search Slack channels and shared files in your AI knowledge base.

The channels you share come into the knowledge base together with their threads and shared files – the arrangements, photos and plans that otherwise get lost in the history. Access is read-only; nothing is posted or changed in Slack.

Connection

How the connection works

You grant access through Slack itself: you sign in with your Slack account and select the channels to be read – read-only and only the selected channels; nothing is posted, replied to or changed in Slack. Depending on your plan and the settings of your Slack workspace, an administrator approves the connection once.

Once set up, synchronisation runs automatically: new and changed documents from Slack are added without anyone having to upload anything.

Set-upOne click, included in the set-up: you connect via your Slack account, subject to admin consent in your account. We agree beforehand which channels are read – ideally together with the person who manages your Slack workspace. Private channels and channels with external partners are something we look at separately.

Documents

Typical content: Slack

  • Channels per site, project or customer that hold the day’s coordination – who comes when, what is still missing, what was promised
  • Threads under a question where the actual answer only appears in the fifth message
  • Photos from the phone: the meter box, the rating plate, the damage before the repair, sent straight to the channel
  • Shared PDFs and plans – the planning application drawings, the data sheet, the wholesaler’s quote – that never ended up in a filing system
  • Pinned messages with contacts, procedures and the rules the team has set for itself
  • Channels with external partners via Slack Connect – planners, wholesalers, subcontractors

Start

Before a connection is set up

You connect it in one click via your account, and it is included in the set-up, subject to admin consent in your account. Together we agree which folders and areas to include.

You can also upload files, whole folders, emails, photos and voice notes at any time. In the demo you see the answers using sample documents from your industry; you check them against your own documents in the first weeks after go-live.

Preliminary check

What we check in advance

junova reads the messages in the selected channels, their threads and the files shared there. Whether private channels or direct messages should be included is a question to be agreed within the company – we discuss it before we start. Beforehand, we clarify which plan you use: on the free plan, older messages and files are only available to a limited extent, which affects your older content. For channels with external partners, we look at who has to consent. Whether canvases or lists are needed is something we discuss separately.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about this connection

Almost everything at our company runs through Slack; there are hardly any documents. Is the connection still worth it?

That depends on what is in your channels. The answer names the channel, author and date of the message it is based on – so you can see who said what and when. A chat history is, however, not a verified document; a promise in a chat remains a promise in a chat. In the first weeks after go-live, we go through how the answers look with your content using real questions.

Will everyone then be able to read colleagues’ direct messages?

Only the channels you select are read. Whether private channels or direct messages are included at all is a decision to be agreed within the company, and we discuss it with you before we start. Beyond that, permissions in junova depend on document types and roles: whatever counts as an HR matter or a cost calculation is only visible to the group it is intended for. Your channel memberships in Slack remain untouched.

We create a new channel for every site. Do we have to tell you each time?

The selection refers to the channels defined during set-up; new messages and files in them come in automatically through the sync. Whether new channels should be included automatically or added separately is something we discuss during set-up. If a channel is archived or the authorisation withdrawn, the knowledge base stays as of the last sync.

Our channels are pretty chaotic. Will the knowledge base find the right thing?

The search runs through the content – messages, threads and shared files – and the answer names its sources so you can check. Channels without work-related content, for example for general chat or leisure, are best left out of the selection. Before the set-up, we look with you at which channels are worth including.
