AI knowledge base for solar PV and energy system installers when someone on the roof asks for the string plan and inverter parameters.
System documentation, string plans, test reports, correspondence with the grid operator, funding documents and the inverter and battery storage parameters in one place, every answer with its source. Microsoft 365 connects in one click, subject to admin consent. Before we start, we check whether pds, TopKontor Handwerk or your file server can be connected; until then, you upload files yourself. The demo uses sample documents; in the first weeks after go-live you see whether the answers fit your systems.
Everyday question
“Which modules and which inverter are installed in this system, and how are the strings split?”
The answer is in
String plan · system documentation · delivery note

Sound familiar?
The customer rings, the system’s down – and I can’t remember offhand which inverter we put up there in 2021.
Tobias had the battery settings at the inn in his head. Since Monday, Tobias has been working for a competitor.
The funding body wants the test report for the system. We’ve got three versions on the server, one of them signed – which one, I couldn’t tell you.
Tuesday, just before seven, in a farmyard. The farmer wants to add two strings and a battery to the system on the barn roof, and he wants to know by Friday what it will cost. To register it with the grid operator you need the metering point number, the registered maximum capacity and the single-line diagram of the existing system. The metering point number is in the grid connection approval, which went to a mailbox the company no longer has. There are two PDFs of the diagram on the server, one of which the designer sent later after the redesign – but nobody noted which. Someone photographed how much space is left in the distribution board on the company phone at the last service. By Friday the farmer still has no quotation – but there is a query from the grid operator that you can’t answer either.

“Which modules and which inverter are installed in this system, and how are the strings split?”
1 String plan · system documentation · delivery note
“What was measured at commissioning, and which parameters are set in the inverter?”
2 Commissioning test report under ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 62446-1 · commissioning report

Documents
The documents that matter to you
- System documentation per site – string plan, single-line diagram, module and inverter datasheets, mounting system and roof structure
- Test reports from the commissioning test of grid-connected PV systems under ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 62446-1 and the installation certificate (Anlagenbefund) under OVE E 8101
- Correspondence with the grid operator – registration of the generating plant, grid connection and grid access, metering point number and completion notice
- Funding documents – application, approval and final statement for the EAG investment grant (under the Renewable Energy Expansion Act), plus state and municipal funding with invoices and supporting documents
- Findings from the recurring inspection of electrical installations in workplaces under the Electrical Protection Ordinance 2012, with the resulting interval for each system
- Inverter and battery documentation – stored parameters, firmware version, error code lists and the safety data sheets for the battery
- Service reports, yield analyses and module complaints together with the manufacturer’s performance warranty
- Documents on charging stations and heat pumps at the same site, photos of the roof and the distribution board, voice notes after a call-out

Pricing
What it costs
Basic package
Set-up fee €2,900 · excl. VAT
A flat fee per company. Everyone at your company can use it – technicians as much as office staff – with no per-user licence. One-click connections are included in the set-up. Before we start, we check whether your industry-specific software can be connected; that connection is charged on a time-and-materials basis, agreed in advance.
At the kick-off we agree on twenty questions together – along with the documents each answer should come from. At sign-off we go through them together and look at what the system does with them. What follows from that is set out in the quotation.
Getting started
Where to start
Pick a site where something was added later – a battery, a wallbox or a second inverter. That’s where the documentation is most likely to be spread across three places, and you see straight away what you actually have. Work through this one site completely in the first weeks after go-live: single-line diagram and string plan, datasheets, commissioning test report, the email exchange with the grid operator up to the completion notice, the funding documents. Then ask about things you know about this system and see whether the sources are right. After that the pattern repeats, with the fault service setting the order: first the systems with a maintenance contract, then the rest. You can upload individual files, whole folders, emails with attachments, photos and voice notes. Before we start, we check whether the system folder on the file server can be connected instead; the link is set up and charged on a time-and-materials basis, agreed in advance.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
For the systems from the early years we only have a few emails and photos from the roof. Is that too little?
Not necessarily. Whatever there is can go in as it is: the photo of the inverter’s rating plate, the label on the back of a module, the grid operator’s email with the metering point number, the photographed delivery note. Sorting comes afterwards, not beforehand. If there are only two sources for a system, the answer is based on exactly those two; in the first weeks after go-live, try one of your early systems to see whether it makes clear that there isn’t anything more. If the system finds nothing for a question, it tells you so.
The parameters are in the inverter itself. Does the system read them from the device?
No – it doesn’t access any device and doesn’t change any settings. You can ask about what you’ve recorded: the commissioning test report, the printout or screenshot of the parameter list, the verification form the grid operator requires for the set values under the Technical and Organisational Rules (TOR) – country setting Austria, reactive power setpoint – plus the voice note from the roof. If you file that after every change, even as a photo of the display, you can look it up at the next fault call instead of ringing the colleague who was up there at the time. The first weeks after go-live will show how well display photos are read.
Can the system look up an error code on the manufacturer’s website?
You decide that, at three levels: not allowed at all, allowed after approval in the chat, or always allowed. For the fault service the middle option is the obvious choice – when an inverter shows a message, the system asks whether it may look outside. The source shows what comes from your system folder and what comes from outside.
We work with installation partners on the roof. Should they be able to see everything?
Who sees what depends on the document type and the role, not on which folder a file happened to end up in. An installer role can cover the string plan, roof structure, mounting system and service reports, but not calculations, purchase prices or the funding statement. If someone asks about something their role doesn’t cover, they don’t get the content. During onboarding you can use a restricted role to see what comes back.
Our yield data runs through two monitoring portals. Does that come in too?
Only as a file or export, and nothing is changed on the portal itself. A knowledge base isn’t a monitoring tool: it doesn’t report yield losses, and it doesn’t check a portal of its own accord. Whatever you can get out as a monthly report or CSV can be brought in via a scheduled export, encrypted and over outgoing connections only – whether your portal supports that depends on the manufacturer and your access, and we check it before we start, before any cost is incurred. A test with a real export will show whether tables and reports can be searched usefully. For a complaint to the module manufacturer, what counts in any case is what you’ve filed on the performance warranty and yield history.
