Files from Advokatask your case files questions, with the source.
The plan is that pleadings, draft contracts, correspondence and file notes from Advokat come into your knowledge base. Your own instance on servers in Germany, language model in an EU data centre, no training with your data.

“Which clause did we use for this client?”
1 Answer with sourceConnection
How the connection is designed
The plan is to mirror the Advokat document directory, encrypted, into your own instance — read-only and over outgoing connections only. File and client master data can be added via the export, so that answers can be assigned to the right file. Whether and how that works for you, we check with you before we start — depending on version, licence and whether Advokat runs on-premises or hosted. As things stand today, to our knowledge nothing speaks against it, but the route is only confirmed for a given installation after the check.
Once set up, synchronisation runs automatically: new and changed documents from Advokat are added by themselves, without anyone having to upload anything.
Set-upWe estimate the effort after the advance check and discuss it with you before anything is set up — together with your Advokat support partner, if you wish. It is charged by effort.
Documents
Which documents may be stored in Advokat
- The electronically kept file including file notes — from the initial consultation through the correspondence to the statement of costs
- What comes in and goes out via WebERV (Austria’s electronic legal communication with the courts): statements of claim, defences, court orders, summonses and the proofs of service for them
- Deeds and enclosures to the file: powers of attorney, contracts, land register and company register extracts
- Fee notes with the recorded services behind them, plus the correspondence on cover with the legal expenses insurer
- Documents from enforcement and debt collection: enforcement titles, enforcement applications, garnishee statements, instalment agreements
- Documents created from your own templates — the stock from which the clause comes for the next case

Start
Before a connection is set up
A connection is set up for you, not activated in one click. Every source comes with its own logins, permissions and folder logic — whether and how it can be connected at your company, we check together beforehand. Set-up and maintenance are billed by effort; how much that is depends on the source and is discussed beforehand.
Until then, and independently of it, you can upload files, whole folders, emails, photos and voice memos. Before we start, we go through real questions with you to see how the answers look.
Preliminary check
What we check in advance
What is read is documents, not database fields. A question about the deadlines in the next few weeks therefore relies on the documents — summons, court order, deadline set in a pleading — not on the deadline register: the register in Advokat remains authoritative for deadlines, and nothing is written there. Fee entries and open items are covered as far as they appear in a fee note or a letter. In advance, we clarify whether your documents sit as files in the directory or in the database, and whether your installation runs on-premises or hosted — that depends on version and licence. The prerequisite is that the documents exist digitally; paper files would have to be scanned first.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about this connection
Our files from before 2015 exist on paper and as scans on the server. Will they be included too?
For the scans, that is the plan: they can be set up like the Advokat directory or uploaded, whole file folders at once, too. Scans without a text layer go through text recognition (OCR) when read in; how well that works with faded copies or handwritten notes becomes clear with your actual documents. With old documents, a careful look is worthwhile: a clause from 2009 is not current for that reason — the answer gives the date with it. What exists only on paper would have to be scanned first; whether that is worthwhile depends on how often the documents are needed.
Everything here is filed by file number. Do I have to know the file number to find anything?
The plan is that you ask by client, opposing party or matter; through the file and client master data from the export, the system is meant to know which file number belongs to it, and the answer gives it as part of the source. Conversely, asking about a file number is also intended, to see which pleadings and notes sit under it. If a matter runs across several files — main proceedings, enforcement, a second instruction years later — a question about the client is meant to show all of them, and you decide which one was meant. You will see in a demo what that looks like with your own documents.
What happens with an Advokat update, or if we switch to a hosted version?
An update does not usually affect the integration: it only reads, nothing is changed in Advokat, and path and structure usually stay the same. Switching to a hosted version, on the other hand, changes the route to the files — it then no longer goes through a directory on your server, and what takes its place depends on what is provided to you there. Tell us the date in advance, and we will clarify this with your support partner before the switch. If a sync fails to happen, that is meant to be visible in the log, and we get in touch; adjustments are charged by effort.
We have files that are walled off within the firm. Can that be reflected?
The plan is to do this via document types and roles rather than individual files. A walled-off area gets its own type that only the responsible people see; everyone else does not get a shortened answer but a notice that they lack permission. A cut-off date can also be set, for example for trainee lawyers who should only have access from the date they joined. Every firm has its own instance, and no model is trained with your data. How you define the areas, we discuss before the setup.
