Documents from TaxMetallorders, costings, drawings.
The plan is that the documents TaxMetall stores on your server come into your knowledge base — costings, orders, drawings, correspondence. Nothing is changed in TaxMetall.

“What was assumed in the costing for this order?”

How the connection is designed
The plan is to mirror the document directory on your server, encrypted, into your own instance — read-only and over outgoing connections only. Master data on customers and projects can be added via the export, so that answers can be assigned to customer and order. Whether and how that works for you, we check with you before we start — depending on version, storage location and licence scope.
Once set up, synchronisation runs automatically: new and changed documents from TaxMetall are added by themselves, without anyone having to upload anything.
Set-upWe estimate the effort once the advance check is done and discuss it with you before anything is set up — together with your TaxMetall support partner, if you like. It is charged by effort.
Documents
Which documents may be stored in TaxMetall
- Production orders with routing and bill of materials — which operation in which order, on which machine, with which standard time
- Customer drawings and production documents attached to the item in TaxDMS, including index and revision status
- Pre- and post-calculations for the order, once the feedback from shop-floor data collection has been booked
- Inspection plans, measurement reports and first article inspection reports from quality management
- Complaints and the reports on them: what was objected to, what action came out of it and who approved it
- Purchase orders, supplier order confirmations and the certificates that arrive with the material at goods receipt

Start
Before a connection is set up
A connection is set up for you, not activated in one click. Every source comes with its own logins, permissions and folder logic — whether and how it can be connected at your company, we check together beforehand. Set-up and maintenance are billed by effort; how much that is depends on the source and is discussed beforehand.
Until then, and independently of it, you can upload files, whole folders, emails, photos and voice memos. Before we start, we go through real questions with you to see how the answers look.
Preliminary check
What we check in advance
TaxMetall is a manufacturing ERP, and a good part of the knowledge sits there in records rather than files: operations, feedback from shop-floor data collection, stock movements. In advance, we look at which of these should come across via the export; in the knowledge base that then reflects the state of the last sync, not a live query — this afternoon’s machine schedule remains in TaxMetall. We also clarify where TaxDMS stores files in your setup and whether the DMS module is part of your licence scope, because that determines which directory is mirrored. NC programs and CAM data are written for the machine, not for reading; whether any of it should go into the knowledge base, we discuss with you.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about this connection
Our hours are reported back via shop-floor data collection. Will the knowledge base see how long an order took?
That depends on whether it is in a document. If the feedback has been turned into a post-calculation, it is intended to be in the knowledge base as a document — the answer gives the source and date. The current order that was booked to this morning remains TaxMetall’s business; nothing is written there in any case. Anyone wanting to know why an assembly got out of hand last year is meant to find the post-calculation alongside the routing, the complaint and the inspection report.
Our drawings are attached to the item in TaxDMS, not in a customer folder. How is that supposed to come together?
The plan is to do this via the master data export: it is meant to bring along which item is in which order and which customer that order belongs to. That way, a question about the customer is meant to lead to the drawing attached to the item, even if nobody knows the item number by heart. If several index levels sit side by side, the answer states which one it comes from instead of mixing them up. Blocked versions that may no longer be produced can be given their own document type and are then not released for production. Whether your export provides this assignment, we look at in advance.
We are about to make a major version jump in TaxMetall. Will we have to set up the integration again?
As a rule that is not necessary, as long as the storage path and the structure of the export stay the same. If both change with the new version, that is meant to show up in the sync — for example when no new files arrive or the columns in the export no longer match; then we get in touch. Adjustments are charged by effort. Tell us the changeover date in advance, and we will look at the first sync afterwards together with your support partner.
We have signed non-disclosure agreements for customer drawings. How do we keep them apart?
The plan is a separate document type per client. That customer’s drawings are then only released for the roles that work on them — for example work preparation and production, but not purchasing or the warehouse. If permission is missing, the system says so instead of giving a shortened answer from which the rest could be guessed. The documents are stored in your own instance on servers in Germany, the language model runs in an EU data centre, and no model is trained with your data. Whether that fits your agreements is best checked with their wording in front of you.
